What is Pilates?

Pilates is a mind-body workout originally developed in Europe by Joseph Pilates in the early 1900s.  He brought his program to the United States in 1926. Originally developed for rehabilitation, Pilates exercises can be done on a mat or using equipment like the Reformer. It dramatically transforms the way your body looks, feels, and performs. It builds strength, without bulking up your muscles and creates a sleek, toned body. Pilates exercises improve flexibility, agility, prevent injuries, and alleviate many chronic ailments, such as back pain. Pilates exercises will help strengthen your "core," the center of your body. Pilates is appropriate for everyone- regardless of age, fitness level, and physical condition.

Try our Pilates Fundamental mat class and Synergy classes!  See our group exercise schedule for the class dates and times.  All classes on the group exercise schedule are free for members!
